A multi-award winning play of sexual passion and betrayal; both romantic comedy and brutal anatomy of modern love. Patrick Marber's Closer is the story of a quartet of strangers who meet, fall in love, and become caught up in a web of sexual desire and deception. Closer, emerges as one of the most successful plays of the 1990s, and as the London Observer noted, it "has wired itself into the cultural vocabulary in a way that few plays have ever done.” Alice, a young stripper, falls in love with suburban journalist Dan. Then Dan meets Anna, a photographer, and brings her together with Larry, a young consultant dermatologist, via the Internet, before leaving Alice for Anna! Closer was made into an academy award nominated film in 2004, directed by Mike Nichols, and starring Natalie Portman, Julia Roberts, Jude Law and Clive Owen. Having previously focused on producing award-winning children’s theatre (including the Grubble series and My Imaginary Friend), this production of Closer is IF Theatre’s debut as a contemporary theatre company.
