Nick and Liesl have been busy since they formed in 2007. In their relatively short time together they have already completed four European tours, over 30 festival performances and now two self-produced releases. Although from very different backgrounds, Nick and Liesl are as natural a combination as sun and sand. The duo in life as well as music met in 2005 on Nick’s home ground, the Central Coast of NSW, while Mullumbimby-born Liesl who was raised in Sweden was visiting her Australian father. Within a year Nick and Liesl who are both songwriters and fantastic singers in their own right combined to create an intoxicating sound that is simply unforgettable. Watching them perform is both delightful and inspiring, and it is easy to connect with their light sounds of guitar and piano blended with thoughtful and poetic lyrics. Stylistically they cover quite a range; from stripped-back and intimate to alternative, pop and soul, but the voices and the harmonies remain throughout, making their sound instantly recognizable. Nick and Liesl have been touring extensively since the start, both across Australia and through several European countries (Germany, Switzerland, UK, France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden). The touring has included many festivals such as the National Folk Festival, Peats Ridge and Festival of the Sun, live radio performances on and support from capital ABC stations (Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide etc) and BBC in the UK, as well as an invitation to Popkomm 2009 (Berlin) and supports for artists such as Kate Miller-Heidke, The Jezabels, Harry Manx and Shane Nicholson.
