The White Goods are four men all born in the month of October, 1985. Statistically speaking, that meant something mystical was always going to crawl out of the spawn of this unholy foursome. No one knows more about that than the drummer Thomas Paterson, who has nine confirmed children to seven different mothers, courtesy of his deposits at one particular Footscray clinic. Paterson’s heroics financially helped bring to life The White Goods first album, Servants, and his appalling musical skills helped it die. Released in 2009, Servants was a haunting crawl through the seedy underbelly of Melbourne, a concept album if you like, an album, if you don’t. Tracks ‘Oh My World!’, ‘Open’, and ‘The Jacks’ all scored Triple J airplay, much to the she-grins of the bands’ girlfriends. The independent Melbourne musical community fame was short-lived, though, and with it went the girlfriends. Now, they've got even more hot sheet but, so listen the hell out for coming tracks. Hailing from the Gold Coast, Fairchild Republic could be described as playing an atmospheric style of alternative indie rock, completed by soaring vocal melodies. Initially performing covers during their high school years, they progressed into writing their own material when the band officially formed in 2009. Drawing influences from acts such as The Killers, The Temper Trap, Foals, Editors, White Lies and Klaxons. Self releasing their debut EP “Ships are for Sailing" in April 2010, Fairchild Republic have taken a different approach this time around, choosing to record new material in a makeshift home studio. The opportunity to self-produce and experiment with their sound appealed to the six-piece band which has led to the release of singles ‘Villages,’ ‘Waiting For It,” and "If I'm In, You're In." Their tracks have been featured on 4ZZZ, Radar Radio, SYN Radio, rage, Balcony TV Brisbane, AliveLive.TV and were semi-finalists in the 2010 International Songwriting Competition. Having played alongside Parades, Last Dinosaurs, Red Riders, Cassette Kids, The Cairos, Glass Towers, Rapids and sharing the festival stage with the likes of Children Collide, Philadelphia Grand Jury, Bluejuice and Grinspoon, Fairchild Republic have gained a reputation for a dynamic live sound and are hoping to showcase this with their new material.
