Cate Maddy translates reading of her own surroundings through the mapping and abstraction of form and colour. By collecting shapes from her local environments, Maddy uses both traditional painting techniques and urban art techniques to create a hybrid world of contradictions. Her paintings are artificial environments were a metaphorical language is established through colour and form. The distillation of shapes isolates parts of the original imagery and creates a spatial silence, engaging the viewer in a complex dialogue between natural and constructed environments. BIOGRAPHY Cate Maddy completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at RMIT University in 2005. She has an extensive national exhibition profile and has been a finalist in Williamstown Contemporary Art Award, John Leslie Art Prize and MLC Art Prize. Her works are featured in private and public collection including the Mater Private Hospital, Brisbane and Artbank, Sydney. Opening Hours Thursday - Saturday, 11am - 3pm Or by appointment Please contact the event organisers for details and further enquiries.
