Tim Jones’ installation The Chamber Ideal is exhibited at Australian Galleries, Smith Street. The Chamber Ideal comprises text based works and three dimensional pieces which examine the links between language, image and object. Jones explores the themes of communication, intimacy and physical space within the work. The Chamber Ideal demonstrates Jones’ multi-disciplinary practice of sculpture, printmaking and installation. Tim Jones was born in Wales in 1962 and trained at the Wrexham School of Art in North Wales. He arrived in Australia in 1983 and completed a Masters Degree at Monash University in 2000. He has held solo exhibitions in Melbourne, Sydney and Bendigo. He has been included in group exhibitions at The Art Gallery of New South Wales, McClelland Gallery and Sculpture Park, The Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Heide Museum of Modern Art and the National Gallery of Victoria. In 1999 he was awarded the Joyce Thorpe Nicholson Award for best designed book. His work is held in the collections of Artbank, the Art Gallery of South Australia, the National Gallery of Australia, The National Gallery of Victoria and the Art Gallery of New South Wales. The Chamber Ideal is current until Sunday 26 February 2012. Open 7 days 10am to 6pm. Opening night: Thursday, 2 February 2012, 6pm to 8pm
