Sydney’s gentlemen of rock, Crow, return to the Sandringham Hotel for a huge show with fellow local legends The Holy Soul. Also in support, the Sydney debuts of two great new acts: Townsville’s The Broken Needles and Sydney supergroup Camperdown & Out. The classic Crow lineup of Peter Fenton, Peter Archer, Jim Woff and John Fenton first reformed in 2007, and have since played a number of occasional, but celebrated live shows. In 2010 they released their first post-reformation album Arcane to rave reviews. One of the iconic bands of Australia’s 90s alternative scene, Crow originally formed in 1988, releasing three albums and touring with the likes of Nirvana, Pavement, Sebadoh, The Verlaines, Jeff Buckley and many more before breaking up a decade after their formation. “This Australian-ness, expressed in a somber lyricism and unorthodox song structures, has always marked Crow as equal in importance to more celebrated bands like The Triffids and The Bad Seeds. The fact that they have chosen to reform and proved capable of producing an album that matches the glorious yield of their earlier records, just goes to show that true creativity does not diminish with time.” - Mess and Noise Joining Crow are The Holy Soul. Perennial Sydney favourites, they’ve recently released Superkangs, a vinyl-only retrospective to celebrate last year’s tour of Europe. Since forming in 2001, they’ve toured Asia, Europe and the USA, and performed as backing band for legendary Can frontman Damo Suzuki and Pere Ubu singer David Thomas. Making their Sydney debut are Townsville act The Broken Needles. Touring in support of their debut album Terra Nullius, The Broken Needles channel classic rock, punk and folk through a uniquely Australian consciousness previously seen in bands like The Triffids, Augie March and fellow Townsville group The Middle East. Camperdown & Out open the bill. Formed by members of Royal Headache, Dead Farmers, Marf Loth and Raw Prawn, they’ll be bringing jangly, sunny pop to a hot Sydney summer in their very first performance.
