Rock'n'roll star Lonnie Lee, born in Rowena western New South Wales in 1940, had his first hit in 1959, Ain't It So, he wrote with Johnny O'Keefe. With his backing band The Leemen, he followed this with a many national hits. In Sydney, for example, he charted eight times from 1959 notably with Starlight Starbright,I Found A New Love and Yes Indeed I do. Like many early rockers, he moved on to country music but after many years in USA returned to his roots and remains very active to this day. He is considered the 'LAST MAN STANDING' of his era as he still writes and releases songs with all stations who appreciate his genre playlisting them. His latest albums, the Doo Wop 50's ballads, 'Light of Love'and the raw country rockabilly, 'North West Mail' have exceptional production and vocal reviews and his catchy sing-along tribute to Steve Irwin 'Crikey'! is played in many countries and sung by thousands of kids in schools. He still performs his unique energetic show in all major venues and festivals and all who see him can't believe his energy and vocal abilities. That's not strange as whilst 51 years ago, both Brian Henderson of Bandstand and Johnny O'Keefe said he was the best singer of his era, today those who see his shows, are saying the same words.. As well as his swing big band show, 'CRY!' featuring many songs of the great Johnnie Ray, he has a casual rockabilly show called, 'Rockabilly Frenzy', an Elvis tribute like no other, 'Elvis, the music of the HillyBilly Cat (songs from 1954 to 1960) and finally his regular show, 'The Best of Lonnie Lee'.
