Description:
In 2008 acclaimed Melbourne poet Luke Beesley put down his pencil and picked up a reconditioned 1965 parlour guitar and started writing rusty, simple songs. His unique, bookish, folk rock has been heard around Melbourne's inner north, since, and he is fast being considered one of Melbourne's finest lyricists. Influences include Neil Young, Will Oldham, old horses, Leonard Cohen, Cormac McCarthy, Julie Doiron and a number of other poets, songwriters and novelists.Nicola Watson's debut album 'Clear is the Coast' is filled with songbird melodies and lyrical wordplay. Forties inspired vocals lead the listener through song writing that explores themes on isolation, mistake-making and human physiology.
