Just home from a whirlwind US trip where she not only performed a series of showcases for International labels, (but also made friends with infamous American celebrity blogger Perez Hilton!!) Gin Wigmore is set to perform her first Australian headline shows this coming November with her brand new four piece band. These will be her last shows for 2008 before she heads to the UK to meet with potential album producers and takes a well earned break to finish writing what will be her debut album due for release early in 2009.
With these first headline gigs just around the corner, Gin Wigmore is pleased to announce the addition of 2 very special guests for the Sydney and Melbourne shows.
Twenty seven year old Melbourne based Chad Mason joins the bill for the Melbourne show @ The Toff in the Town on Wednesday November 19th. Wearing the influences of Springsteen, Little Feat and The Band not too far from his rolled up snap button sleeves, Mason’s take on the alt-folk genre displays raw appeal while evoking the rich traditions of country music.
Singer Songwriter George Byrne joins the bill for the Sydney show @ The Vanguard on Wednesday November 26th. Byrne writes and performs beautiful tunes, and with a voice a little like Dave Gilmour’s, some people say his music could be described as ‘Pink Floyd Americana’. His first album ‘Foreign Water’ was released to critical acclaim in Australia, the UK and most recently the US. It features guest appearances by Lior and Holly Throsby, and was made with the help of producers Jonathan Burnside (The Sleepy Jackson) and Tim Powles (The Church). George has just returned from 3 months in NY touring and recording his second release ‘Hoops & Ladders,
Gin’s end-of-year headline shows are shaping up to be very special musical events so make sure you get your tickets fast!
