Sydney band, Pomomofo are heading out on tour to support the release of their second EP IN SUPER VGA which will be released through BANDROOM on October 18.

Pomomofo began by writing chaotic jams and winning the Jim Beam state campus band competition. They quickly gained a reputation for their anarchic live shows and witty lyrics. They recorded their debut EP in mid-2006 which was released through indie label Kitch34. 9 solid months of touring followed which included all three east coast legs of the Good Vibrations Festival, plus strong supports for Cornelius, The Presets, Midnight Juggernauts and Sneaky Sound System.

Move forward to 2008 and Pomomofo are back with their second EP IN SUPER VGA. Recorded with Chris Townend (The Presets) and Berkfinger (Sparkadia) the EP has been mastered by Mike Marsh at The Exchange (Daft Punk, Justice, Bjork).

The first single from the EP, Island has received remix treatment from French wunderkind The Toxic Avenger, Groove Terminator's new project Live From Mars, New York club legend Ursula 1000 and Sydney electro kidz Hey Now, as well as a Teenwolf-meets-NBAJAM-meets-Michael Jordan video clip from the enigmatic Beaufort (who did the infamous clip for the Bagraiders' Fun Punch).

So what’s in a name? Nikos from the band tells us why Pomomofo..

“True story? I was at film school, home of postmodern theory, and the screenwriting teacher described something I'd written as "pomo". I didn't know what it meant. They said it was short for "postmodern". I couldn't believe it. I said "you are a pomo mofo". When it came time to give our band a name, it came back to me. It made sense to us because we were so utterly obsessed with referencing stuff, incorporating stuff, being a postmodern motherf#cker.”
