As with his previous work, Bromley’s forthcoming exhibition, The Story That Never Ends, typically draws on imagery from Boy's Own annuals and old magazines. They explore the themes of childhood innocence, lost and found.
Vacillating between nostalgia and symbolism, these works could be seen as metaphors for life's challenges. However, Bromley says his message is not explicit and he prefers to leave its interpretation with the viewer.
The artist has used similar layering and texturing techniques in his explorations of the female figure that tantalise the viewer with their suggestions of veiled meaning. Painted against his signature backgrounds of gold and silver leaf, Bromley’s latest nudes incorporate graffiti images of butterflies and flowers.
Bromley has exhibited in London, Paris, Tokyo, New York and Singapore. His work appears in numerous private and corporate collections throughout Australia, including Artbank, Flinders University and the State Galleries of South Australia and Western Australia, as well as in London, Paris, Tokyo, Johannesburg and the United States.
