Description:
When someone melodically declares, “I wanna show you the inside, so won’t you come in,” you listen. This is the captivating and honest nature of Faye Blais, the singer/songwriter that has been seen swooning crowds from around campfires in Northern Ontario to the stages of Taiwan, Thailand and Australia for almost ten years.
Self-taught from an early age, Blais released her long-awaited debut “First Tooth” in 2005. The independent album, recorded at Hamilton’s Crossfade Studios, characteristically resounds with upbeat odes to the greater things in life and gentle reflections upon her cross-country adventures. Compared to the likes of Regina Spektor and Canada’s own Feist, one reviewer noted that he will one day proudly boast, “I heard Faye Blais’ first record before she was famous.”
This Sudbury, Ontario native and world traveler has recently lead the trio Faye & The Slacks around Taiwan, which garnered much attention overseas, considered as “one of Taichung’s most energizing new bands.”
Since arriving in Australia, Faye has teamed up with vocalist/pianist/keyboardist Brad Viterale, who brings amazing tempo kicks and melodramatic switches to the peaks and valleys of their original-filled sets. The two are producing a constant flow of fresh tunes and unique sounds, having all crowds bursting at the seams for more of the harmonic magic sure to brew in the months ahead. Catch them while you can, in and around Melbourne, as they prepare for the September “Two Pieces Tour” up the East Coast of Australia for the release of Faye’s second album.
