Description:
The Festival of the Sun is the ultimate beachside festival, a two day music mélange of alternate, indie, hip hop, blues & roots, avante garde and solo acts, set right on the beach in the heart of beautiful Port Macquarie on the 12th and 13th of December.
Priding itself on showcasing a strong list of local and emerging Australian acts, this year’s Festival of the Sun once again delivers with aplomb.
“I am just as excited about the smaller acts as the bigger bands higher up on the bill,” said Scott Mesiti of FOTSUN management.
“I love seeing the look on the crowd’s face when some of the smaller acts, they have never seen before, just blow them away. I’m tipping a young band call Barrel House to do just that this year. They are local to Port Macquarie and killing it on the East Coast.”
2008 sees the festival’s first international act, That 1 Guy. Having never toured the Mid North Coast organisers just couldn't resist showcasing such a talent.
“We see it as a milestone and an indication that we don't want the headlining internationals but ones that suit the mood of the festival,” said Scott.
We just love our summer music festivals in Australia and, believe it or not, the Festival of the Sun is one gig you can still get a ticket to – for the moment! After a sellout 2007, tickets are close to gone for the 12th & 13th of December and Festival of the Sun is once again ready to add its own unique flavour to the Summer music festival circuit.
The 3,000 body capacity ensures a laid-back cruisy vibe, allowing festival-goers to get up close and personal with their favourite band without having to battle the huge, overwhelming crowds.
