Description:

Spring brings new life to Brisbane’s music scene with the birth of the inaugural Sounds of Spring Festival featuring 40 rock, hip-hop, electro, roots, punk and indie artists over four stages.

It’s been two years since Australia’s power punk pop trio Spiderbait released their “Best of..” album and last played in Brisbane. With a string of hits such as ‘Fucken Awesome’ and ‘Black Betty’ from 2004’s Tonight Alright, ‘Outta My Head’ from 2001’s The Flight of Wally Funk, Shazam from 99’s Grand Slam, Triple J's ‘96 Hottest 100 #1 ‘Buy Me A Pony’ from Ivy and the Big Apples, and 93’s Run; Spiderbait remain a blistering live proposition: Kram flailing at his drums, Janet resolutely slamming her bass and Whitt coaxing out waves of noise from his guitar.

The powerful and progressive rockers Cog released their second album in April entitled ‘Sharing Space’ which debuted at number 2 on the ARIA Albums chart and a must see live act, even for those not into the heavier stuff.

Former Tism singer DC Root heads to Brisbane with his new band Root, a mix of rocking country music and spoken word for their first ever show in the capital!

The Herd’s new single The King Is Dead is quickly becoming the hip hop anthem for 2008. Their new album Summerland is out now through Elefant Traks/Inertia. As one of the country’s best live acts they combine a social conscience with danceable hip hop beats and a multicultural edge. With an unconventional set-up, they perform with two MCs, two singers, an acoustic and an electric guitar, bass, piano accordion, clarinet, laptops and MPC.
