The Broken Heartbreakers (NZ) @ Wesley Anne
16 May 2008
Event Name:
The Broken Heartbreakers (NZ)
Date:
Fri 8:30PM, 16 May 2008
Description:
Auckland-based 'folk-pop' group The Broken Heartbreakers released their self-titled album in late 2007 to rave reviews the length and breadth of their native New Zealand. Formed in 2002, the group have developed an unforgettable live sound and played with international acts such as Lou Barlow and The Handsome Family. Music critic Graham Reid describes them as a sound which draws equally on the Left Banke, the Everly Brothers, Brian Wilson, Beatles and alt.country harmonies, and the Anglofolk tradition: "'It's country music for the bus downtown, spiritual music for top-shelf believers, psychedelic music for those on a come down." This is a rare opportunity to catch one of New Zealand's most mesmerising live acts & hear song-writing at it's best.
