Brian McFadden and Axle Whitehead have joined forces for a double bill in what is set to be a fantastic couple of nights of music at the legendary and recently refurbished The Basement. These will be Brian’s first shows in Australia performing work from the recently released sophomore solo album Set In Stone.
These shows will also be Axle’s first ever performance of material from his forthcoming debut album Losing Sleep, which is scheduled for release mid-August.
Set In Stone is the new solo album from Brian McFadden, released here in Australia before anywhere else in the world. This week it debuted nationally at No. 5 on the Motorola ARIA Album Chart! It is the follow-up to the Dublin-bred singer/songwriter's 2004 solo debut, Irish Son, which topped both the British and European record charts. Brian has adopted Australia as a second home.
Internationally, Brian McFadden is one of the most successful performers and songwriters of his generation. Prior to going solo, he was a member of the phenomenally popular boy band Westlife. In 2004, Brian decided it was time to step away from Westlife and pursue a career as a solo singer and songwriter releasing Irish Son.
Brian McFadden said “These will be my first lot of solo shows for this album, and I can’t wait to share them first with the Australian audience before anywhere else! Playing at the legendary Basement just makes it all the more special!”
Forget what you think you already know about Axle Whitehead. Axle is, first and foremost, and has always been, a musician in the purist sense of the word. His stunning debut album, Losing Sleep will showcase him as a serious singer/songwriter, as well as a skilled vocalist and inventive musician.
His first single from the album, I Don’t Do Surprises, debuted into the ARIA Top 10 and has been a radio smash, hitting the No. 1 spot on the Most Played Australian songs nationally. The Basement shows will be the first time that he gets to perform this song live to an audience.
