After rocking out to packed stadiums last year, POWDERFINGER are hitting the road again to bring fans their own personal and intimate concert experience to theatres around Australia in June. The Upstairs at the Downstairs Tour will be their first return to theatres in Australia in 8 years.
Always bringing something new to the table, fans will get the ultimate POWDERFINGER concert with the best of both sides of the band as they perform two, hit-filled sets – one acoustic followed by a second rock set with intermission in between.
If this wasn’t enough ticket buyers will have the opportunity to choose the band’s set list by voting for their favourite songs online, bringing about another layer of interactivity for the audience as they get to hone the bands acoustic and electric sets. This really is the definitive POWDERFINGER concert experience.
“For this tour we’re doing something a little different, something a little more intimate. We’re trying a concept we’ve never done before on a tour, and that is to split the show into two halves. One of our main focuses for this tour is to make it a little more personal and have more interaction with our fans and what they would like to hear us play. Hence, they’re choosing our set list ... we will be at their mercy!” said guitarist Darren Middleton.
Finally, Australia’s most amazing new troubadour WHITLEY will be supporting the tour around Australia. Whitley is best known as a contradiction. Although the mischievous 23-year-old exudes cheeky wit, his music and lyrics paint him as an old soul, his words steeped in nostalgia. The young Victorian draws you into his private world of whispered, whimsical tales of love and loss. From the opening bars of Whitley's charming debut album The Submarine, his intricate storytelling and striking arrangements display a musical maturity beyond his years.
